二、涉及的副詞的部分否定

英語中表示總括性的副詞主要有always (總是), absolutely (完全地), altogether (完全地), completely (完全地), entirely (完全地), everywhere (到處), necessarily (必然地), wholly (完全地)等，當(dāng)它們連用否定詞時，通常表示部分否定。如：

We don’t always agree with one another. 我們的意見并不總是一致的。

Her mind was not entirely on her work. 她的心沒完全在她工作上。

To be fair to him, he wasn’t entirely to blame. 說句公平話，這事不能都怪他一個人。

I’m not wholly convinced by your argument. 你的論證我并不完全相信。

You can tell a child what to do, but he doesn’t always obey. 你可以告訴小孩他該做什么，但他并不一定都照你說的做。
